4. Estefania Lay Guerra

Peru

Estefania was born and grew up in Lima, Peru. She has a Bachelor degree in Social Management from "Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru" and also has complementary studies related to gender topics and social development. 

She had joined initiatives focused on rural health, education and risk management and she was a lecturer in subjects related to ethics and citizenship. 

However, her main experience is related to project management in community arts and social transformation, as well as in the articulation and collaborative work between the state and civil society.

She worked for almost 6 years in the Ministry of Culture of Peru, as a social specialist and then coordinator of the project "Puntos de Cultura", an initiative focused on the strengthening of grassroots cultural organizations, whose work contributes to citizen empowerment, social equity and peacebuilding.

She believes that studying in the Masters of Peace and Conflict Studies program at UQ will be an opporunity to strengthen her knowledge and skills for promoting equitable citizenship and community development in the context of cultural diversity.
