9. Omayma Sawaed

Omayma holds a law degree (L.L.B, 1999- 2003) and in 2005, she was approved by the Israeli bar association where she practiced as a lawyer. Omayma later graduated with a Master’s degree in Human Rights and Democratization from the University of Malta (MA, 2006-2007). During that time she spent four months of research at the Irish Centre for Human Rights at the National University of Ireland in Galway. Omayma later completed an internship of three months at the Pretoria Centre for Human Rights at the University of Pretoria in South Africa.

While in South Africa Omayma worked on analytical research of the apartheid model. She also worked on issues related to HIV/AIDS, women’s rights and South Africa foreign policy. Her main interests centre on peace and conflict resolution in the context of the Israeli Palestinian situation. During her Applied Field Experience, Omayma served as an intern at the London Middle East Institute at their UK offices.
