5. Caitlin Fitzpatrick

Sponsor Club: USA, District 5450

Caitlin believes that building bridges amongst diverse communities is a vital step in promoting peace; an endeavour that she began through her work as an educator in Colorado in bilingual special education classrooms. A love for Latin America has guided her in her academic and professional pursuits. Caitlin attained her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Latin American Studies with a minor in Political Science from the University of Colorado. After working with children and teens from socio-economically disadvantaged communities for several years, Caitlin felt inspired to add to her experience and enhance her potential to act as an agent for social justice in her community. During her time as a World Peace Fellow, Caitlin has been trained in mediation techniques and completed her Applied Field Experience with the U.S. State Department as a policy analyst at the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor Caitlin hopes to build a more peaceful global climate by working not only on policy issues, but also within the local community to promote cultural understanding and fundamental human rights through education.
