4. Leticia Mello de Oliveira

Leticia is Brazilian, but was born in Argentina, and has been in touch with both countries since her childhood. She has graduated in Social Communications and Journalism in the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro.
Leticia started her journey in social development and humanitarian aid before finishing her bachelor’s degree, first as a volunteer in AIESEC USFQ, Ecuador, and later as a communications intern for Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in Brazil.

Leticia started her work in the field in the state of Roraima, frontier of Brazil and Venezuela, where she has worked for MSF and other organizations with community engagement and protection, with refugees and traditional populations. Her fieldwork continued in Sinaloa, Mexico, as a protection manager for the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) in internal displacement. In her master's, Leticia plans to deepen and foster her theoretical knowledge of migration and displacement in conflict contexts, especially with the visibility of these crises at the international level. Leticia believes that the critical and interdisciplinary approach that UQ has in this complex subject will be essential for her journey as a student.
