I would like to acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the lands on which The University of Queensland and our Rotary Peace Centre operate. On behalf of our Centre staff and our Peace Fellows, I pay my respects to the ancestors and descendants of the Traditional Owners. I recognise the valuable contributions that First Nations people have made to Australian and global society.
Our Rotary Peace Centre has been a proud partner with the Rotary Foundation since the beginning of Rotary’s worldwide Peace Fellowships programme in 2003. And we feel honoured to be one of only eight universities worldwide selected by The Rotary Foundation to host a Rotary Peace Centre.
Every year, up to ten new Rotary Peace fellows begin their 1.5 year-long Masters in Peace and Conflict Studies (MPaCS) with us. This world-leading Masters program focuses – amongst others – on the promotion of non-violence, grassroots peace building, conflict mediation, and the roles of Indigenous diplomacy and gender politics as central to achieving peace.
The School of Political Science and International Studies, within which our Rotary Peace Centre is located, boasts broader teaching and research expertise in political science, international relations, peace and conflict studies, and public policy.
Our world-leading research is global, covering areas including political theory, international political economy, global development, conflict resolution, inclusive peace practices, Indigenous politics, prevention of mass atrocity, health and digital policy, crisis management, security, and strategic studies.
Our Rotary Peace Centre is a vibrant, diverse, and active space, and I would like to invite you to engage with our fellows, staff, events, activities, and intellectual communities.
