12. Etsuko Teranishi

Etsuko has Bachelor degree in Intercultural Studies, focusing on Intercultural Communication. Prior to becoming a Rotary World Peace Fellow, Etsuko had worked with a non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in Lao PDR and Cambodia as a project coordinator in rural development and post-conflict reconstruction (including participatory development, literacy education and small arms reduction project). Etsuko spent tere for four years. Etsuko speaks Japanese, English and Lao as well as a bit of Indonesia.

During her study in the UQ, Etsuko did her Applied Field Experiences with a European NGO in The Hague, The Netherlands engaged with knowledge-generation and research in grassroots peacebuilding project. After the graduation of the UQ, Etsuko intends to work in post-conflict reconstruction program - reintegration program for former combatant- with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) in Aceh, Indonesia.
