After graduating with Bachelor of Social Work and Social Administration degree from Makerere University and, a Graduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management from Gulu University in Uganda, Robert has worked as Programme Coordinator with World Vision Uganda and later with Chaford Uganda, rehabilitating former child soldiers and serving internally displaced persons respectively. Robert did his AFE with Amnesty International in Zambia and says he chose to work with Amnesty International because he wanted to learn more about human rights protection and advocacy.

Robert wrote his thesis on Small Arms and Security in the Great Lakes region of Africa. The Great Lakes Region has experienced some of the most deadly armed conflicts in recent years and over six million people have been killed using small arms in just a decade. Robert intends to work towards small arms control and peacebuilding in the Great Lakes Region of Africa.
