3. Patmillia Doe Paivey — Liberia
Patmillia currently provides and supports policy direction and strategy to protect, and promote human rights in the Republic of Liberia,
This is according to the provisions of the Act creating the entity which includes, monitoring and reporting the status of human rights in Liberia annually; investigating and providing redress to individuals whose rights are violated through a quasi-judicial mechanism, and making recommendations to government for improving human rights while also ensuring compliance to international laws, treaties and other obligations.
"I aim to acquire higher education in peace building, conflict resolution and international development which will prepare me to meet the challenges that impede peace across my country and the world. It will enable me to solve problems confronting women and youth, especially those caught up in conflict and post conflict eras. This fellowship will provide theoretical and research education that will strengthen me professionally. I am optimistic that this fellowship will catapult and empower me as a global leader for continuously pursuing peace and development."
"My short-term goal is to become a thought leader in the field of peace and development through acquired knowledge, research and field experience. My long-term goal is to serve peace missions and humanity, utilizing practical solutions to alleviate poverty, promote, peace and development in the most difficult communities.
