1. Camilo Arango — Colombia

Camilo is responsible for developing strategies to promote the participation of the private sector in the implementation of peace agreements in Colombia, as well as positive peace strategies.

Camilo believes that a peaceful future is possible, “I have always lived in a country that has not been able to end a war, and during the last 80 years, it has left more than 10 million victims. That is why I believe that my experience at the University of Queensland will be relevant to learn about other peacebuilding experiences different from those of Latin America and will show me new opportunities to continue serving above self and contribute in a better way to improve living conditions in my country."

"I have developed all my professional experience in a challenging city like Medellin and a complex country like Colombia. No doubt, in the short term, the experience as part of the Rotary Peace Fellowship will help me improve my knowledge and skills to continue promoting private sector work in peacebuilding in my region, which is still a big challenge in the country. In the long term, it will allow me to find new professional paths to create new positive peace agendas that allow the consolidation of new conditions of stable and lasting peace in Colombia.”
